Our Design Process

Our Design Process includes the following:

  1. Initial Meeting — R&R will meet with the Owners to discuss the overall objectives/goals of the proposed new work, to determine the preliminary scope of work, and the feasibility of the project. The Initial Design Meeting typically requires up to two hours.
  2. Photo/Measure — R&R will take photos of the existing residence and areas to be affected by the proposed work, and take measurements of the areas to be affected by the proposed work.  R&R will develop a set of scaled “as-built” drawings which will provide the basis for the proposed project design.  The Photo/Measure typically requires three or more hours.
  3. Preliminary Design — R&R will deliver the “as-built” drawings along with at least two (2) design alternatives to the Owners, and obtain feedback/corrections/suggestions to refine the proposed designs.  R&R may send renderings of proposed designs to Owners in advance or in lieu of a Preliminary Design Meeting (via e-mail or hard copy), to facilitate the design evaluation/feedback process.
  4. Updated Design — R&R will update the design based on Owners’ feedback from the Preliminary Design and present it to the Owners for approval.  R&R may send renderings of the updated design to Owners (via e-mail or hard copy) in advance and/or in lieu of an Updated Design Meeting.  Once the Owners have reviewed the updated design and confirmed that the design meets or exceeds the Owners’ objectives for the proposed work, R&R will provide the design to Square One Remodeling, who will develop a preliminary budget for the actual construction of the proposed design.  Upon obtaining Owners’ approval to proceed, based on the preliminary budget, R&R will complete the updated design and present it to the Owners for approval.
  5. Final Design — R&R will incorporate feedback from the Updated Design into a consolidated/updated design for the new work, and present a “final” design to the Owners for review and approval.  R&R may send renderings of the proposed final design to Owners in advance of a Final Design Meeting (via e-mail or hard copy), to expedite completion of the design work.
